Job title:
Future of Higher Education (FHE) Postdoctoral Fellow
Bio/CV:
Jared Robinson is a poet and critic from Indianapolis, Indiana. His research investigates the relationship between the articulated blackness of 19th century slave narrative and the theoretical elaborations of blackness as a concept in the present. His creative work, including poetry, essays, and short fiction, extends this investigation into the limits of description for “blackness” within black art. His experiences with course planning and undergraduate mentorship through the Berkeley Connect program have helped solidify his passion for undergraduate experience and curriculum design. As a former McNair scholar, he is looking forward to continuing to support the success of Berkeley’s diverse student populations as a part of Berkeley Discovery, continuing the legacy of careful guidance and support that has helped him along the way. His work has been supported by the Future of Higher Education postdoctoral program, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Arts Research Center at UC Berkeley, and the Black Studies Collaboratory.
