Where to Get Involved:
- Getting Started in Public Service Guide: Start with our overview guide on ways to get involved in public and community service. Explore options below for resources specific to clubs and student leadership.
- CalLink: CalLink is the online central hub for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) at UC Berkeley. You can find student clubs (RSOs) by searching categories such as “Arts Student Organizations” or by cultural identity, attend club events via CalLink calendar or look for position announcements in the News section.
- Calapalooza: Each semester starts with Calapalooza, a student involvement fair featuring UC Berkeley’s 1,200+ registered student organizations (RSOs), 60 sororities & fraternities (CalGreeks) and student government groups (ASUC and Graduate Assembly). You can also catch many of these groups tabling at Sproul Plaza across the school year.
- Fraternity & Sorority Life: Get involved with the CalGreeks community (one of 55+ local, national, and international fraternities and sororities). Join a fraternity or sorority chapter as members take leadership roles with their chapter or with the larger CalGreeks community.
- Student Environmental Resource Center (SERC): Brings together the sustainability community. and provides resources for students to actualize their visions for a more equitable, socially just and resilient future. You can find a SERC program or join an eco-organization (student environmental and sustainability organizations).
- ASUC (Associated Students University of California): Student representatives, officials, and staff serve and advocate for the UC’s diverse student populations. You can join the ASUC by looking for open positions or reviewing resources for election.
- DeCal Program: UC Berkeley offers student-run courses on a variety of subjects, many of which are not addressed in the traditional curriculum. You can start your own DeCal course, receive training in facilitating DeCals or join the DeCal Board Internship to manage the courses (check DeCal course schedule to register).
- Berkeley Student Leadership Academy: Complete a training workshop series that helps undergraduate students develop leadership competencies. Participants receive a certificate and access to mentorship and networking opportunities.
Where to Get Support For:
- Lead a student club: Registering a student club gives your club access to funding, spaces, a Berkeley web address and more. Review the detailed instructions for registering a club by the due date or contact an OASIS (Organization Advising & Student Involvement Services) staff advisor for support. If you need support managing your RSO, see guides on managing your money, planning events and promoting your organization
- Get funding for your club: RSOs can apply for allocation of ASUC funds and fundraise, collect dues, find sponsors and apply for grants. A few key grants for student organizations include the Student Opportunity Fund, Big C Fund, CACSSF Discretionary Fund and Wellness Fund.
- Advocate for student needs: There are many ways for students to have a voice on campus including joining ASUC commissions and committees like the Disabled Students Commission and Mental Health Commission, being a student representative on UC Berkeley governing committees and participating in campus Thriving Initiatives including the African American Thriving Initiative and Latinx Thriving Initiative.
