Creating a museum exhibit

Nika Esmailizadeh || Berkeley Discovery

College of L&S, Anthropology

Nika entered her freshman year thinking she wanted to study biology, but developed a passion for working with historical collections when she took a freshman seminar, "The Workings of a Museum," at the Hearst Museum in Fall 2017. She was inspired by her involvement and quickly switched her major to Anthropology and minor in education. She is currently working with the Oral History Center at UC Berkeley to develop curriculum for K-16 classrooms that incorporates their collections into specific lessons, specifically around the AIDS epidemic and environmental justice.
